“It’s Not In Your Head, It’s In Your Heart” Linking Emotions to Cardiac Ailments.
Susan Steinbaum is an inspiring cardiologist and author of “The Heart Book” Susan says she wanted to name her book “It’s not in your head, It’s in your heart” Excerpts from Dr. Steinbaum’s book, “Almost all my cardiology patients confess to me in hushed, worried, anxious, panicky voices that they are under stress, and not just stress, but great, unbearable stress. Almost all of them, if I listen long enough, speak of this internal stress. They are all in the same boat. Often they say things like..”nobody knows” or “nobody gets it” or “only me” They all feel alone. And yet they are in the same group, with so much in common. Many of them after their confession follow up with, “ maybe it’s all in my head” None of them realizes that they all feel the same way, because nobody wants to admit out loud how crushing their stress really is.” This is a common experience for many heart disease patients, many of them aching for connection.

The Heart is a sensitive place. It is the organ of our emotions. The heart remembers how we feel. How many times do we hear…” With all my heart” “Cross my heart” , “Oh my aching heart.” “I almost had a heart attack”
